Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PDF Smart Home Android application, package name com.pdfsmart.home (the "App"), and the website at pdfsmarthome.com (the "Website"). The App and Website are provided by the developer of PDF Smart Home ("PDF Smart Home," "we," "us," or "our").
By installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App. The Privacy Policy explains how information is handled and is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
1. The service
PDF Smart Home is a general-audience Android utility that may provide:
- Local PDF reading and document browsing.
- File actions such as bookmark, rename, share, delete, and file details.
- PDF creation, conversion, merge, split, scan, lock, unlock, and editing tools.
- Local file search and organization.
- Widgets and optional notifications.
- An optional Android Home screen (launcher), app drawer, shortcuts, and search experience.
- Advertising-supported access, analytics, crash reporting, attribution, and remote configuration.
Available features may vary by App version, device, Android version, region, permission state, file type, and service configuration. Some tools may not support every document or preserve every element of the source file.
2. Eligibility and responsible use
The App is not directed to children under 13. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use the App only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms.
You may use the App only in compliance with applicable law, these Terms, and the rights of others. You are responsible for the files you access, create, edit, convert, share, or delete and for having the rights or authorization necessary to process them.
3. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license to install and use the App on compatible Android devices for lawful personal or internal business purposes.
Except where applicable law permits, you may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, distribute, reverse engineer, decompile, attempt to extract source code, bypass security or advertising controls, interfere with the App, or use the App to build a competing service.
4. Your files and backups
Core document operations are designed to take place on your device. You retain ownership of your files. We do not claim ownership of document contents merely because you process them with the App.
Document editing, conversion, merge, split, lock, unlock, rename, deletion, and other file operations can change or remove data. You are responsible for:
- Reviewing selected input and output files.
- Keeping independent backups before an important operation.
- Remembering document passwords and protecting password-protected files.
- Confirming conversion quality, page order, formatting, signatures, and output location.
- Checking a file before relying on or sharing it.
Do not rely on the App as the only storage location for important files. We are not a cloud backup or document-recovery service.
5. Permissions and Android system settings
Some features require Android permissions or system capabilities, including file access, camera access, image selection, notifications, installed-app information for the launcher, and default-app settings. The App should request access in connection with the relevant feature.
You may refuse or revoke a permission, but the related feature may be unavailable or limited. PDF Smart Home can be used without being set as your default Home app. Choosing PDF Smart Home as the default Home app is optional and must be completed by you through Android's system settings. You can switch to another Home app at any time in Android Settings.
6. Sharing and third-party services
When you choose Android's system Share function, open a file with another app, submit a Google web search, open a web shortcut, follow an advertisement, open a Google Play page, or use another third-party service, the information needed for your request is sent to that third party and its terms and privacy policy apply. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party apps, websites, search results, advertising content, products, availability, security, or data practices.
Before sharing a document, make sure it does not contain confidential, personal, copyrighted, regulated, or unlawful content that you are not authorized to disclose.
7. Advertising
The App is supported by advertising and may display app-open, interstitial, and native ads in supported placements. Advertising may be delivered by third-party advertising and mediation services. Ads are not endorsements by us, and advertisers are responsible for their products, claims, landing pages, and transactions.
Ad availability, format, frequency, personalization, and content may vary. An ad loading failure should not intentionally block a core document action, but we do not guarantee that every ad or third-party destination will be available, suitable, or error-free.
8. Prohibited conduct
You must not use the App to:
- Violate law, regulation, court order, contract, copyright, trademark, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights.
- Create, possess, modify, conceal, or distribute content that is unlawful or harmful.
- Access, alter, delete, encrypt, or share a file without authorization.
- Introduce malware, exploit vulnerabilities, interfere with devices or networks, or evade security controls.
- Misrepresent your identity or authority, commit fraud, or facilitate deceptive activity.
- Abuse support channels, advertising systems, attribution, analytics, or automated access.
- Remove or obscure legal notices, ownership notices, or advertising disclosures.
9. Intellectual property
The App, Website, design, branding, software, and related materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.
Android, Google Play, Firebase, AdMob, and other third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners. Their use does not imply sponsorship or endorsement unless expressly stated.
10. Updates, changes, and availability
We may update, add, change, suspend, or remove a feature to improve the App, address security or policy requirements, maintain compatibility, change providers, or operate the service. Updates may be distributed through Google Play and may be required for continued use.
We do not guarantee that the App or Website will always be available, that every feature will work on every device or file, or that support for a particular format, Android version, advertising provider, or region will continue indefinitely.
11. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App and Website are provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and error-free operation.
The App is a general utility, not legal, financial, tax, compliance, archival, security, or professional advice. You are responsible for independently verifying important documents and outcomes. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, files, passwords, profits, business, goodwill, or opportunity arising from or related to the App, Website, advertisements, or third-party services.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the minimum amount permitted by applicable law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so some of this section may not apply to you.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the App at any time and may uninstall it through Google Play or Android Settings. If PDF Smart Home is your default Home app, you may need to choose another Home app in Android Settings before uninstalling.
We may suspend or terminate access to the App or a related service where reasonably necessary to address unlawful use, abuse, fraud, security risk, policy violations, legal requirements, or discontinuation of the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination remain effective, including ownership, disclaimers, liability limits, and applicable legal provisions.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the App, providers, business model, or legal requirements change. We will post the revised Terms at https://pdfsmarthome.com/terms and update the "Last updated" date. Where required, we will provide additional notice before a material change takes effect. Continuing to use the App after the effective date of revised Terms means you accept the revised Terms to the extent permitted by law.
15. Applicable law
These Terms are governed by applicable law, without depriving you of mandatory consumer protections in the country or region where you live. Any dispute will be handled by a court or authority with lawful jurisdiction unless applicable law requires another process.
16. Severability and entire agreement
If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect, and the affected provision will be interpreted as closely as permitted to its intended purpose. These Terms and the Privacy Policy form the agreement between you and us regarding the App and Website, except for additional terms that apply to a specific third-party service.
